    As many as 90 percent of Americans report that they will continue working out from home when the COVID-19 global pandemic ends. Deciding what you need for your home gym is a balancing act between your budget and your needs.

    Be sure to include a couple of different size barbells so that you can use them for a variety of exercises. Your dumbbell sets should range from light options to heavier weights. This will help you tone your body or build muscle mass, as needed.

    Weight Plates and Bench

    Weight plates and a weight bench are staples in gyms of all sizes across the United States. A weight bench is a great option for you to use during bench presses, fly exercises, and more!

    Make sure that the bench you buy is big enough to support your body height and size. The weight plates you pick should range in increments that give you enough variety to lift heavy or on the lighter side.

    Cardio Machine

    A cardio machine is a great tool in any gym for many different reasons. Running or biking indoors will allow you to avoid the dangers of busy streets lined with cars, bikes, or other runners. It will also allow you to avoid skipping exercise days because of inclement weather.

    Consider a cardio machine like an elliptical so that you can improve your cardiovascular health while taking it easy on your knees and other joints!

    Mirrors

    When you first consider putting mirrors in your gym, you may be turned off from the idea of being a vain addition to your workout room. Looking at your workout progress isn’t the rationale behind putting mirrors in your home gym.

    Including mirrors in your gym is a great way for you to look at your form and posture as you work out. If you don’t use good form during a workout, you are at risk of injuring yourself.

    Depending on the severity of your injuries, they can keep you out of commission for workouts for the foreseeable future.

    Home gym essentials are the things that you simply can’t overlook as you are putting together the ultimate workout room. Your essential picks are not ones you have to keep in your gym forever.

    As you progress in your workouts, you may find that certain machines or weights are no longer needed. For starters in your home gym, don’t forego these essential tools to help you improve your health.
